Privacy policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Noise Remover is a mobile app published by Codeur d'Ivoire. This policy explains what the app and this website collect, why, who else receives it, and what you can decide for yourself.
The app needs no account, and it cleans your audio on your phone: your recordings, the files you import and the cleaned results are never uploaded. What does leave the device is advertising and measurement data, crash reports and, if you buy the Pro upgrade, the record of that purchase, but never any audio. Each is described below.
The short version
If you read nothing else on this page, these are the points that matter.
- Your audio never leaves your phone. Recordings, imported files and cleaned results are processed and stored on the device, and the app has no server to send them to.
- The microphone is used only while you record, after you have allowed it.
- There is no account and no sign-up. Your settings and your cleanings stay on your phone, and uninstalling the app deletes them.
- The free version shows ads through Google AdMob, which reads your device’s advertising identifier. Where the law requires it, you are asked first, and Pro removes ads entirely.
- Google Firebase tells us which features are used and when the app crashes, without knowing who you are.
- A purchase is processed by your app store; we never see your payment details.
- We do not sell your data, and you can ask us to show, correct or delete what we hold.
Who is responsible for your data
The controller of the personal data described here is Codeur d'Ivoire, publisher of the app and of this website. To ask a question or exercise a right, write to support@codeurdivoire.com and say which device and which version of the app you use, so we can find the right records.
Your audio never leaves your device
Removing the noise happens entirely on your phone, by software built into the app. Your recordings, the files you import, the soundtrack of the videos you pick and the cleaned results are never sent to us or to anyone else: the app has no server of its own, so there is nowhere to send them. Cleaning works without a connection, in airplane mode included.
The usage statistics and crash reports described below never contain your audio. The app records no file names in the statistics; a crash report can carry the error Android raised while reading or sharing a file, and such an error may quote the file’s location on your phone. Ads are chosen without any access to your audio.
A cleaned file leaves your phone only when you send it: when you tap Share, it goes to the app you choose in Android’s share sheet, and when you tap Save to device, it is written to the folder you pick. From then on, that app or that folder decides what happens to it.
The microphone
The app asks for the microphone the first time you tap the record button, to record your voice in the app. It is used only while the recorder is running (the screen shows the timer and the level), and recording pauses as soon as you leave the app. The app never listens in the background.
On Android 10 or later, you choose in the recorder which microphone records: the phone’s own, a wired or USB microphone, or a Bluetooth headset. To take the sound from a Bluetooth headset, the app uses Android’s permission to change audio settings, which Android grants when the app is installed, without a dialog: it opens the link to the headset when you record with it and closes it when you stop. The app asks for no Bluetooth permission and never looks for nearby devices.
If you refuse, everything else keeps working: you can still import an audio file, pick a video or share a file from another app. You can withdraw the permission at any time in your device’s settings.
Your audio files
The app reads only the files you hand it: one you pick through Android’s file picker or photo and video picker, or one you share to it from another app. It asks for no permission to read your storage and sees none of your other files. From a video, only the soundtrack is processed: the picture is never altered.
For each cleaning, the app keeps in its private storage on your phone the cleaned audio, a copy of the original sound so you can adjust the result later, and the last file you exported, with a list showing each file’s name, date, length and settings. Working files sit in the app’s cache, which Android may clear on its own; the app rebuilds them from the original when you reopen a cleaning. For a cleaning made from a video, it also keeps a copy of that video in its cache, so that the video can be exported with the cleaned sound; like everything else, it stays on the phone, and it goes when you delete the cleaning or its original, or when Android clears the cache.
You stay in control of all of it: delete a cleaning from History, delete the originals or every cleaning from Settings, which shows the space they take. Clearing the app’s data or uninstalling it deletes everything. Your cleanings and their list are excluded from Android’s device backup and device-to-device transfer: they never leave the phone, not even in a backup.
What the app collects automatically
The following is collected when you use the app, without you entering anything, through software development kits from Google and RevenueCat embedded in it. It is described in the same terms Google uses, so you can match it against the data safety section of the app’s Google Play listing.
- Device or other identifiers: the advertising identifier of your device, read by Google AdMob to show ads and by Firebase Analytics for measurement; a Firebase installation identifier that groups events and crash reports by installation; and an anonymous identifier generated on your device for RevenueCat. None of them is your name or your e-mail address, and the advertising identifier can be reset.
- App activity: the screens you open, the features you use, the offers shown to you and the plan you buy with its price (never a payment identifier), collected by Firebase Analytics. For a cleaning, this means where the file came from (a recording, an audio file, a video or a share), its format, its length rounded into a range, how long the cleaning took and the settings you chose, but never the file’s name or its content. For a recording, it also means how many markers you dropped and the type of microphone used (the phone’s, wired, USB or Bluetooth), but never the microphone’s name.
- App information and performance: crash logs and diagnostics (the state of the app and of the device when something failed), collected by Firebase Crashlytics, with your app language and theme.
- Technical information: device model, operating system and app version, system language, and an approximate location inferred from your IP address, which AdMob uses to select ads.
- Purchase history: if you buy Pro, the product bought and the receipt issued by the store, received by RevenueCat.
What stays on your device
The app keeps the following in its private storage on your phone. We cannot read it, and it is deleted when you clear the app’s data or uninstall it.
Android may include your preferences in the device backup kept in your Google account, so a new phone picks them up. Your cleanings and the copy of your Pro status are excluded from that backup: the cleanings stay on the phone that made them, and on a new device the store confirms Pro again.
- Your cleanings and their list, described under Your audio files.
- The defaults a new cleaning starts from: intensity, loudness normalization and low-cut.
- How many cleanings you used today, encrypted, so the free version’s daily allowance holds offline.
- Your preferences: language and theme, and whether you completed the introduction.
- The microphone you last chose in the recorder, by type and name, so it is selected again whenever it is connected.
- The export format you chose last, so that it is selected again for your next export.
- Whether the app has already explained its notifications on this phone, so that it asks only once. It is kept with your cleanings, out of the backup.
- Counters the app uses to pace itself: how many times you opened it, how many actions you completed, when it was installed, when an offer or a rating prompt was last shown, and the last version Google Play’s update prompt was shown for, so that it is offered once.
- An encrypted copy of your Pro status and its expiry date, so Pro keeps working offline.
- The end of an ad-free period earned by watching a rewarded video.
Advertising through Google AdMob
The free version of the app shows ads supplied by Google AdMob; that is how it stays free. This website shows none.
Where the law requires consent before personalised advertising (in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), the app presents Google’s consent form, and no ad is requested before you have answered it. Where your region requires the choice to stay open, it can be changed later from the app’s settings.
To select and measure ads, the AdMob SDK reads your advertising identifier and the technical information listed above. Google acts as an independent controller for the ads it serves, under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). We do not receive the profile Google builds, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers ourselves.
- Reset or delete your advertising identifier in your device settings (Settings, then Google, then Ads, on most Android phones). Ads keep appearing, but are no longer personalised.
- Watch an optional rewarded video to suspend ads for a limited time.
- Upgrade to Pro, which removes every ad from the app for as long as it is active.
Analytics and crash reports
Firebase Analytics tells us, in aggregate, which features are used and where people stop, so development goes where it matters. Firebase Crashlytics reports crashes so we can fix them. Neither is given your name, your e-mail address or an account identifier (the app never sets one), and neither receives your audio.
The Pro upgrade and payments
Pro is sold through your app store, which collects the payment and holds your payment method. We never see your card number, bank details or billing address.
RevenueCat records that a purchase happened and tells the app whether Pro is active. It receives the anonymous identifier generated on your device, the store receipt, the product bought and basic device information, and processes them on our behalf under its own privacy policy (revenuecat.com/privacy).
Notifications
When you leave the app while a file cleans, the cleaning goes on in the background and Android shows a notification with its progress and a button to cancel it. A recording cancelled from that notification is not deleted, since the app holds its only copy: it stays on your phone, in History, until you clean it again or delete it. If the cleaning ends while you are away, a second notification says the file, or the batch, is ready, and tapping it opens the result. Both are posted by the app on your phone: nothing is sent to a server to deliver them, and they show the name of the file and the progress, never your audio.
On Android 13 and later, Android asks for your permission first. The app asks for it once, on a screen that says what it is for, at your first cleaning, never at launch, and you can change your answer at any time in the app’s settings or Android’s. Without it, the cleaning still goes on in the background, and Android lists the app among the running apps instead of showing the notification.
While a cleaning runs, the app keeps the phone’s processor awake, not its screen, until the cleaning ends, so that it can carry on with the screen off.
This website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads no third-party scripts and shows no ads. It is hosted by Vercel, a company based in the United States. As with any website, the host keeps short-lived technical logs, which may include your IP address, for security and troubleshooting.
Why we process this data, and on what legal basis
For users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the law requires a legal basis for each purpose. Ours are the following.
- Performance of a contract: providing the app’s features and unlocking the Pro features you paid for.
- Consent: personalised advertising where the law requires consent, and the microphone, which the system only lets the app use once you grant the permission; what it records is processed on your phone alone. You can withdraw either at any time, without affecting what happened before.
- Legitimate interest: aggregate analytics and crash reports, to improve and fix the app, kept free of direct identifiers.
- Legal obligation: keeping the records accounting and tax rules require in connection with a purchase.
Who else receives data
We do not sell your personal data. The providers below receive data because a feature cannot work without them, each under its own published terms. None of them receives your audio.
- Google (AdMob): selecting and measuring ads in the free version.
- Google (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics): usage measurement and crash reports.
- Your app store (Google Play or the App Store): payment, refunds and subscription management, and on Android the app’s updates, which Google Play offers inside the app.
- RevenueCat: validating purchases and managing the Pro entitlement on our behalf.
- Vercel: hosting this website, and the short-lived technical logs of visits to it.
- Public authorities: only when a valid legal request obliges us to, and only to the extent required.
Where your data is processed
Google, RevenueCat and Vercel operate in several countries, including the United States, so some of this data is processed outside the European Economic Area. Those transfers rely on the safeguards these providers document, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it.
How long data is kept
We keep data only as long as the purpose that justified it lasts.
- Analytics events: 14 months, the retention period set in the app’s Google Analytics settings.
- Crash reports: 90 days.
- Purchase records: while the subscription or purchase is active, then as long as accounting and tax rules require.
- Your cleanings: until you delete them in the app, clear its data or uninstall it.
- Other data on your device: until you clear the app’s data or uninstall it.
- Messages you send us: as long as needed to answer them, and at most 12 months after the last exchange.
Children
The app is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone below the age at which consent is valid in their country. If you believe a child has given us personal data, write to us and we will delete what we hold.
Your rights
You can ask us for access to your personal data, its correction or deletion, a copy in a portable format, or a restriction of its use; you can object to processing based on our legitimate interest, and withdraw a consent at any time. Write to support@codeurdivoire.com: we answer within one month. The app holds no account, so we may ask for details that identify your installation.
Deleting what the app holds on your phone is immediate and in your hands: clear its data or uninstall it. For the data processed by Google and RevenueCat, you can also use the tools those providers offer, and your device’s advertising and privacy settings.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority: in Côte d’Ivoire, where the publisher is established, the Autorité de Régulation des Télécommunications/TIC de Côte d’Ivoire (ARTCI), in charge of personal data protection under law no. 2013-450 of 19 June 2013 on the protection of personal data, or the one where you live.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. A change that materially affects how your data is handled is announced in the app before it takes effect, and where the law requires new consent, we ask for it.
